FAQs
Q: How long do the air fresheners last?
A: From three to four weeks, but like with any other air freshener, you might go "nose blind" to it after a while. However, your car will still smell like the scent you select, and your passengers are likely to notice the scent because they are less used to it!
Q: How long will it take to receive my order?
A: Some scents take longer than others to soak into the aromabeads (this is what freshies are made of), so depending on what scent you choose and how many orders I am processing, turnaround time will vary. Allow 5-7 days for your custom air freshener to be made, and then 3-5 days (depending on where you live) for shipping through USPS. Again, this is a rough estimate and depending on your order and freshie design, you could receive it sooner. Keep in mind that I am making, packaging, and shipping all of the air fresheners on my own - if anything comes up or I need to let you know about something, I will contact you through email!
Q: Where can I put my freshie?
A: They can go anywhere, they smell stronger in smaller spaces though. Places like cars, closets, drawers, gym bags, and lockers are the most common!
Q: How do I hang my air freshener?
A: Each one comes with a string already attached so you can hang them anywhere you'd like. I recommend tying it in a triple or quadruple knot to ensure that it won't come loose! If you are putting the freshie somewhere that doesn't require a string, you can easily cut it off. I also make the string on the air freshener a bit long on purpose, so that you can tie it to your desired length.
Q: How can I preserve the scent?
A: The fragrance is released by heat, so in the summertime if the air freshener constantly sits in the heat with no shade, you may find that the scent is released more quickly. To preserve the scent during the summer, I suggest parking in shade when you can or using a car sunshade if you have one. During the winter however, the scent is released more slowly (and might seem like it lasts longer) as there is not as much heat surrounding it.
Q: I live in a state that gets super hot during summer, will my freshie melt in my car?!
A: If you are nervous, take the obvious steps to prevent this, such as making sure the freshie is hanging (NOT laying on your dash), and tying the string in a triple or quadruple knot to ensure that it doesn't fall. Additionally, if you have a car sunshade that you can use, I recommend using it when you can. It also helps to crack your windows on extremely hot summer days when you know your car will be sitting in the sun for a while to allow for some circulation. I personally have never had a freshie melt in my car, and I have always let mine sit in the sun all day (often not using a sunshade). But, again, if you're worried, it would be useful to follow the tips I have listed to give you some peace of mind!

This business idea had been floating around in the back of my mind for a couple of months after I bought a car air freshener from the mall for nearly $12. I was shocked that they were being sold for so much (I wanted to sell them for a more affordable price), and learning about how the air fresheners were made with aromabeads really piqued my interest. I did a lot of research about the process and the necessary supplies in January 2020 and then started ordering materials at the end of February!
I am a full time college student at Texas A&M University, so I wasn't able to start creating the freshies right away. Then, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I thought "what a great time to finally start the business!" And so, esSCENTials was born.
After about three weeks of experimenting and trying different amounts of scents and colors, I launched the first version of the menu on April 2nd via Instagram (@esscentials). I started to receive orders very quickly and had so much fun making each one!!
My ultimate goal is to make every customer happy with their personalized order, whether they put their air freshener in their car, drawer, locker, closet, or wherever else they'd like. I really love that freshies are such fun, inexpensive gifts for yourself or anyone else- they're great for graduation gifts, birthday gifts, wedding/party favors, and so much more. I also love that when ordering one for someone else, you get to customize their air freshener to what you think they'd like- it's a really personal present!
